Going for it! Training for my first not so quite sprint triathlon!

So I'm not the type to make New Year resolutions, but this year I'm very serious about it. There are 3 things I want to do: get spiritually in shape, decrease my fat percentages, appreciated people more by not taking them for granted!

I'm glad there's a class going to start up at church on interpretating the Bible, so that will satisfy my first resolution for now. However, the getting physically in shape part is hard for me. I'm rather lazy if I don't have any motivation or goal, so I've decided to finally go for it this year and get a taste of trying out Triathlons! I've been wanting to do one for a couple of years, so I'm super excited when the medical director of my agency is interested in doing one also. Neither of us are interested in the competitive aspect, but as long as we finish, we're in good shape! Since moving to California, I've bought a hybrid road bike and got a membership at 24 hour fitness and that's all the ingredients I need to do a Triathlon.

In sum, my goal (and this is scary but also exciting because I feel like I really have to do it now that I'm blogging about it) is to do a Tri for Fun around Lake Pleasanton in June. http://www.onyourmarkevents.com/TriForFunInfo.htm
I'll be doing 400 yard swim, bike distance 11 miles, 3.1 mile run.  I think it's doable! =)
It's great for newbies like me because it's non-competitive and the lake water is supposed to be warm at 72 degrees! In short, I'm going for my first mini triathlon! Keep me accountable! =)  Also, anyone interested?  Let's train together!

Go for it.  There's a group of us at church riding in the MS150 this year.  Biking is fun but I can't handle swimming.  Keep us up to date.
